Nuts & Seeds

Nuts

Nuts are the seeds of plants. Most seeds are those of trees, but peanuts are the seeds of a legume. Nuts contain high contents of healthy unsaturated fats, protein, fiber, and minerals such as magnesium. For example, pecans contain large amounts of B vitamins, almonds are abundant in calcium and vitamin E, and walnuts have lots of folate, vitamin E, ALA omega-3 fatty acids.

Below is a list of commonly used nuts in my recipes:

  • Almonds

  • Walnuts

  • Pecans

  • Cashews

  • Macadamia

Seeds

Unlike nuts, culinary seeds come from vegetables (such as pumpkins), flowers (sunflowers), or crops (flax or hemp). Seeds are a great source of healthy fats, protein, fiber, and ALA omega-3 fatty acids.

Below is a list of commonly used seeds in my recipes:

  • Chia seeds

  • Flax seeds

  • Hemp seeds
