Have you ever thought of making plant-based bacon? This recipe doesn’t taste 100% like bacon, but it sure is a delicious and nutritious alternative! Tempeh is very high in protein and is also a great way to get your vitamin B-12, if you are vegetarian or vegan!
Tempeh “Bacon” Recipe
Yield: 4 servings (25-30 strips)

Cook Time: 10 min
Total Time: 12 min
Ingredients:
16 - 18 oz. tempeh (one package)
Olive oil, to taste
3-4 tbsp reduced-sodium tamari sauce (or soy sauce)
2 tbsp date or maple syrup
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika powder
Black pepper, to taste
Directions:
Cut tempeh into ¼-inch thick slices.
Add olive oil to a pan over medium heat and add the tempeh. Cook for 5 minutes flipping the tempeh as you go so that both sides are golden and crispy.
Add 1 tablespoon of water to the pan and stir.
Add tamari sauce, date syrup, garlic powder, paprika, and black pepper, and stir until tempeh is evenly coated.
Let the tempeh brown for a few more minutes.
Enjoy with some homemade ketchup!
